Nadelwelt

Am 15. Mai war's dann endlich soweit: die Eröffnung der Nadelwelt in Karlsruhe mit vielen Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen, inkl. eine gemeinsame Ausstellung der Modern Quilt Guild Stuttgart und der Modern Quilt Gruppe Heilbronn - "Modern Quilting im Ländle".

15 May: Finally the day had arrived and the Nadelwelt Show in Karlsruhe opened, with lots of individual and group exhibitions, including a joint exhibition by the Modern Quilt Guild Stuttgart and the Modern Quilt Group Heilbronn - "Modern Quilting im Ländle".

 Vor der Eröffnung kommt aber bekanntlich die Arbeit. So machten sich vier Damen aus der Stuttgarter und zwei aus der Heilbronner Gruppe schon frühmorgens am 14. Mai zielstrebig auf den Weg nach Karlsruhe bzw. nach Rheinstetten in die Messehallen. Mit im Gepäck: jede Menge Quilts sowie alles was man braucht, um sie aufzuhängen.

But as anyone who's ever put on a quilt show will know, there's lots to be done before the show can open. So four intrepid ladies from the Stuttgart group and two from the Heilbronn group set off early in the morning of 14 May headed for Karlsruhe, or rather Rheinstetten, where the Exhibition Centre is located - with a trunk full of quilts plus all the stuff you need to hang them.

Hier sieht man Helga, wie sie sich kurz stärkt, bevor's losgeht. Noch sieht alles etwas kahl und trostlos aus, das wird sich aber bald ändern ...

 Als erstes haben wir alle Quilts ausgepackt und auf dem Boden ausgelegt, damit wir einen Überblick haben, was wir überhaupt dabei haben:

Irgendwie schienen's die Heilbronner viel besser im Griff zu haben als wir!
Somehow the Heilbronn ladies seemed much better organised than we were!

Als die jüngste im Quartett, durfte Susy immer hochsteigen und die Quilts aufhängen. Wir älteren standen ihr dabei immer beratend zur Seite ...

As the youngest of the four, Susy got volunteered to climb up and down the ladder and hang the quilts. We "older" ladies looked on and provided lots of advice ...

Einige Stunden später war's dann vollbracht. Fast alle mitgebrachte Quilts kamen in die Ausstellung. Wir waren müde aber glücklich!

A few hours later our work was done. We'd been able to hang almost all the quilts we'd brought with us, and we were tired but happy!
